Hannosuke in San Jose

Science guy food review
After a long wait, I finally tried this newly opened place in San Jose, CA. I went after 6 p.m., and the line was still long. Parking was horrible, especially since the restaurant is near Mitsuwa Market, a popular Japanese market in town. Parking there is always hard to find, but you just need to be patient. Hannosuke San Jose After waiting about 30 minutes, I ordered a tempura don with extra tempura and a potato salad, since the restaurant does not have udon yet. At around $25+ for the tempura don, $18 for the extra tempura, and $9 for the potato salad, I expected more from the quality and taste. I was not satisfied.
The rice was too wet for me. The tempura was just normal—something we can get from a different udon place. The potato salad was the worst part: it had a half-cooked egg, only a small portion of potato, and still cost $9.
I would not want to say this, but I will not be going back for the tempura. If they add udon in the future, I would still give the restaurant one more try—but until then, we will skip this place. The concept is good; the quality, especially at these prices, is not acceptable. As you know, this is only my personal take—taste will always be subjective.
